Qld: Police investigate neighbours deadly dispute

Police are continuing their investigation into an incident at Hervey Bay in south-east
Queensland on Christmas Eve, in which a retired policeman shot dead his neighbour before
killing himself.

Police say a retired Victorian police inspector took his own life in a street in the
holiday town 200km north of Brisbane, soon after shooting his neighbour dead in his car.

He was found lying two metres away, still clutching a rifle and barely clinging to
life, and died later in hospital.

The 61-year-old retired officer's believed to have had an ongoing dispute with the
51-year-old neighbour.
