FED: Libs, 9 have fallen on their face over piggery: Keating

Former prime minister PAUL KEATING says the Liberal Party and Channel 9 have fallen on
their face after the government abandoned its pursuit of him over his former piggery
investment.

Mr KEATING says the whole thing was a scam.

He says the issue was a values fight because the Howard government did not believe in
anything the Keating government had stood for, including Aboriginal reconciliation, the
republic and a friendship with Asia.

He also says he will not proceed with a defamation case against Channel 9.

Attorney-General DARYL WILLIAMS has announced he could find no grounds to support a formal
inquiry into Mr KEATING'S business deals.
